Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration

Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration that keeps your customers and your rankings

Years of products, customers, orders and Google rankings, moved onto Magento 2.4.9 and PHP 8.4. Your old custom features come back as clean modules on a fast Hyvä front end. Customers log in with their existing passwords and see their past orders. Old URLs point to the right new pages. We rehearse the switch on staging and finish with a sync of the latest orders.

  • On Magento 1 and Magento 2 since 2011
  • Data, URLs and SEO all moved
  • Orders placed during the project checked at launch
  • Quoted in stages after discovery

Rows checked across 18 tables on one platform move

20,000+

Who it is for

Merchants on Magento 1.9 or OpenMage ready to move to a supported platform

Stores with big catalogues, B2B pricing or lots of custom features

Businesses whose organic traffic relies on URLs that have ranked for years

Teams whose earlier migration attempt stalled

The problem

Magento 2 is a different platform. Modules, themes and integrations can't be copied over, so they get rebuilt or replaced. The data can move, but only with care. Custom attributes, configurable products, customer groups, tier prices and order history all need mapping, and years of indexed URLs need redirects or your rankings drop on launch day. Migrations go wrong when someone treats them as a data export or makes up the launch on the night.

How we work

We split the job into what moves (data, URLs, content) and what gets rebuilt (code, theme, integrations), and work on both at once.

  1. Step 01

    Discovery and feature map

We go through the Magento 1 store and list each feature, extension and integration. Each one is marked native in Magento 2, replaced by an extension, rebuilt, or dropped because nobody uses it.

  2. Step 02

    Plan and quote in stages

Once the feature map is agreed, we quote each stage against it and fix the target stack: Magento 2.4.9, PHP 8.4, OpenSearch, and Hyvä or Luma for the theme.

  3. Step 03

    Data migration

Products, categories, attributes, customers, orders, CMS content and reviews go across and get checked. Customer passwords come too, so nobody has to reset an account.

  4. Step 04

    Rebuild code and theme

Custom features are rebuilt as clean Magento 2 modules, the theme is built in Hyvä or Luma, and the ERP, PIM, shipping and payment integrations are reconnected.

  5. Step 05

    SEO plan

We collect indexed URLs from the sitemap, Search Console and server logs, and map Magento 1 URL keys, category paths and suffixes to Magento 2 with direct 301s. Titles, descriptions and structured data come across, and we save Search Console baselines to compare with after launch.

  6. Step 06

    Practised launch

We rehearse the launch on staging, then go live with a last sync of orders and customers created during the project, and keep a close eye on things afterwards.

Why Scopebit

01

We know both platforms

We've worked on Magento 1 since 2011 and on Magento 2 since it came out. We can read your old code easily and know the right Magento 2 way to rebuild it.

02

We rebuild what you need

Copying old logic into new code drags old bugs onto the new platform. We rebuild features from what the business needs today, which usually means less code to look after.

03

Trading carries on

Your store keeps selling throughout. Orders, customers and products created in that time come across in a final sync, and we check them row by row.

04

SEO is in the plan

Redirects and metadata are a line in our plan from the very start. They're never a job someone remembers the week before launch.

From our clients

They rebuilt the entire site on a clean hardened server, migrating 20,000+ products, auditing 54 modules, and delivered a professional cutover report documenting every single step. Best developers I've worked with in 20 years of running web businesses.
